So last week I tried the Brand New IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact serum foundation. If you haven’t seen the video you can catch it here IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact Review
I have consistently worn the foundation every day this week – all different ways & with different products. Let’s get into what worked and did not work.
First let me say that I really do like this foundation, it is super full coverage, easy to apply, & has great skin benefits. It’s really a no brainer foundation that I throw on in the morning & go. In the video I noticed that it was creasing a lot and exaggerating my fine lines when it is supposed to make them vanish, I think it was because I used the Rimmel Stay Matte powder to set everything. Sometimes the Rimmel Stay Matte powder can be a little “thick”. So this week I let the foundation set on its own, which takes a million years, & only set my under eyes. This helped with the creasing & made my face look less “cakey”. I also used a brush to apply the foundation & then went in with my Real Techniques beauty sponge to even & smooth everything out & it really helped! I still feel that you do not need to get the Heavenly Skin Skin Smoothing Complexion Brush #704 ($48.00) so the foundation looks good. If you have a flat top kabuki brush I think you will be ok, I will link the brush I used below – super affordable & works good for the price. I also just used the beauty sponge to apply and I think using the sponge alone works wonders but….yes there is a but, using the sponge used way too much product & a lot goes to waste. I do have to include that the IT brush is so expensive because according to the IT Cosmetics website the brush uses patent-pending bristles that have skin care benefits infused into the brush, & you can use it with multiple products not just this foundation.
Skin Type -Dry skin people will loVe this foundation!!!! But if you are like me & you have super oily skin or even combination skin I would really recommend using a matte primer & setting spray because this foundation does not keep you matte at all. If you have big pores like me I also recommend using a pore minimizing primer under the foundation, however I did see a big improvement in my pores looking a little bit smaller after a week of using the product & using a pore minimizing primer together.
As for other products – I came to the conclusion that using a light hand when applying products on top of the foundation works best so everything blends smoothly & looks flawless. This week I used a mixture of cream & powder products for my blush & highlight – NYX, Maybelline, E.L.F., & Pixi Beauty, just to name a few. Concealer did start separating mid-way thru the day only if I did not set it or if I failed to blend the concealer into the foundation correctly. I did notice that using the Bye Bye Under Eye concealer from IT cosmetics worked best but the Shape Tape from Tarte also worked super good!
Wear time – On a normal face wear time would not be a problem but for me it did not last my entire day. To be totally fair my face gets done at 5 am and my day does not end until 5pm, that’s 12 hours!!! So if you plan to wear it for that long be ready to touch up through out the day. I can say that using the applicator that came with the foundation is pretty good for on the go touchups – not for full application. I would recommend to limit the touch ups to 3 times a day, yes that is a lot but again I have very looooooong days! If you touch up anymore than 3 times you will be totally cake face.
Overall I do enjoy this foundation – and I do love all of the skin care benefits. They have 7 shades the is cost $38.00. You can find it at Ulta or on the IT Cosmetics Website Confidence in a Compact.
